Hemorrhoid During Pregnancy

Getting hemorrhoids during pregnancy is common among new mothers due to the increased hormonal levels and blood flows throughout the body. This is the reason why pregnant women are prone to obtaining varicose veins and hemorrhoids, in general. The additional weight of the growing fetus inside the uterus is another reason why a woman can get hemorrhoids during pregnancy, since more pressure is added to the weakened pelvic area and veins thus, making it a suitable breeding ground for hemorrhoids.

 

What causes hemorrhoids or rectal bleeding during pregnancy

Hemorrhoids during pregnancy as mentioned before, are formed due to the pressure produced by the expanding uterus which affects the female’s pelvic area and vena cava. Once subjected to pressure, the lower limbs of a pregnant woman will not receive adequate amounts of blood thus, diminishes the circulatory processes. This increases the pressure in the veins located at the lower limbs and once this happens, the veins swell or dilate, then out comes the external hemorrhoidal veins. Many believe that this is one of the major causes hemorrhoids during pregnancy.

Pregnant women are more prone to constipation since the growing embryo absorbs all the nutrients from the food their mothers eat. This is another reason why developing hemorrhoids during pregnancy is unavoidable.
